Barneche Design / Stephanie Barnes Studio creates timeless, rustic decorations for the home and body. With an affinity for vintage textiles, recycled wood, antique glass, ephemera and other materials my creations are infused with rustic whimsy. I also refurbish antique light fixtures and lamps adorning them with elegant custom shades from vintage & new silks, linens and brocades.
In 2014, my mind was turned toward my spiritual calling of interfaith chaplaincy and spiritual care service. From 2016 through 2018, I completed intensive training to be an interfaith chaplain at a large, northeastern trauma center. As I was concluding my Clinical Pastoral Education, I was a ordained within my faith as a Buddhist Repa, receiving the name Repa Nyima Ozer.
As I move forward in my work as a chaplain, I still love to create objects of beauty and space. As an ordained interfaith chaplain, artist and designer, I have an abiding appreciation for the spiritual power of aesthetic to create peace, centeredness, and home. This informs my creativity with deep intention of spaces and experiences for people, surrounding them with
beauty that sustains and supports thereby allowing one to live life by design. I engage my outer and inner eyes in tandem with my experiences in photography, textiles, woodworking, and chaplaincy to design, enhance and ensoul bespoke spaces and items for individuals. These same values undergird my practice as an ordained Buddhist repa and hospital and prison chaplain. Stay tuned for the Spiritual Sundries division of Barneche Design – Stephanie Barnes Studio which will feature rich silk and brocade stoles, rakasu covers, shrine cloths, mala/ rosary pouches, and much, much more.
